In continuing with yesterday’s post, I want to share more bird’s nest in unusual places.
This is a house finch nest in a pot of what I’ve always called Wandering Jew. At least one of the eggs have hatched…maybe two. But since this family built in a pot with a plant in it, I have to be extra careful when watering the plant.
I know I shared with you another story about how the finches like to build their nests in my clothespin bag. But what you need to understand is that raising four younguns in a confined space creates a poopy problem. This is the aftermath that I get to clean up after the little ones have left the nest.
I’m not really complaining because I love sharing my space with all these creatures. Their songs give me such pleasure there’s no way I want them setting up house somewhere else.

Your post should have come with a disclaimer: Do Not Open before Breakfast! :-)
Sometimes we have to step in the poop on our way to smell the roses!
ewww...a poopy problem is not cool...funny where they find to nest you know....the one in the tree is really cool...glad you saw it before you watered...
Those little birds come up with some unique nest sites. We have chicks peeping in the bird condo that we have in the back yard but it's too high up to see in.
Very cool.
That is so funny!!!:) I love it...you are so lucky. I wouldn't mind the poopy problem. So sorry about not writing the other day, I had guests and we were all over the place which left very little time to comment, read, and all the fun stuff I like to do with my coffee in the morning:) That shot of the bird nest is perfect!:)
It is amazing where nests are found. Pretty neat too. Evn empty hanging baskets. Nice pics for and aft. MB
Magpie, YOU are one true "Nature Peep".
I LOVE it!
The Universe is ours to enjoy...and it's creatures can enjoy US, too!
