Today on the photo blog that I do with Tracy, I posted a picture of a quaint, charming, endearing, lovely, brand new birdhouse that sits vacant.
Isn’t it adorable? A blogging friend made mention of our birds in Arizona not really preferring birdhouses due to the heat. And I totally agree with that except for this…..
Get a closer look….
Now this used to be a lovely birdhouse that my brother built for my mother. It had a gorgeous green roof with green trim and white and cream paint on the body of the house. It used to have all it’s little perches also. It is an 8 unit “building” and every year – several times a year – they are all full!!!
And then there’s this “jewel”….we call it the Ted Kaczynski birdhouse. It has even had to be in the repair shop for a rebuild at least once. But guess what??? Birds love it.
Of course, my brother will tell you the birds know good craftsmanship when they see it…and I guess I would have to agree. He built a birdhouse for me that looks like a barn or rather used to look like a barn. The doves raised several families there.
There’s just no accounting for taste….

Delighted to see your collection of vintage birdhouses - I'm sure they're complete with poop and all!
Also glad to see your other blog. I'll try to drop in from time to time!
LOL. Love this! I would rather live in an old house that is well broken in myself, so I understand your birds.
